The
Port of Airlie development at Muddy Bay has been approved by the
three tiers of Government - Federal, State and Municipal.
As part of the approvals process, a Community Reference Group (CRG
Airlie) was established.
The role of the CRG is to provide a regulated means through which
the community, stakeholders and interested persons can communicate
with the developers of the project and vice versa.
It is not the role of the CRG to consider acceptance or rejection
of the development.
Rather, with the necessary approvals already
having been granted, the CRG was established to ensure that the development is
undertaken in accord with its approvals and further, to provide
a means for open communication.
It is the CRG's role to:
- Review the development's project performance against the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP)
- Contribute to an informed view of the project within the community
- Assist in identifying and resolving issues
- Advise the development in the preparation of local social, industry and employment strategies
- Advise the development and the community about any other related matters
- Facilitate communication among approving agencies, the developers, the community and other stakeholders
Members of the CRG have been drawn from the community, local government
as well as the fields of environmental sciences, property development
and civil construction.
