An initial Draft Impact Assessment Study was completed in December 1988 and followed by further environmental investigations.

A new Draft Impact Assessment Study was completed in December 1998.

Further investigations were required by the Department of Environment and Heritage.

A Draft Impact Assessment review report was completed in March 1999.

Further investigations were required by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).

A Supplementary Environmental Impact Study (EIS) was completed in April 2003.

An Addendum to the Supplementary EIS was completed in 2004.

The development was approved in August 2004.

The approvals comprise public documents held at Whitsunday Shire Council and the Office of State Development in Brisbane.
